The Canyon Observer at Bol Festival in Moscow

Post-metal group The Canyon Observer will be the first Slovenian band to perform at the Russian Bol (Боль or pain) Festival. The alternative festival that has captivated the Russian youth is today regarded as one of the key members of the international and Russian alternative scene. This year’s lineup also features globally renowned groups The Good, the Bad & the Queen and Death Grips, with one of the headliners also the Russian duo Ic3peak, who have gained international recognition over the past year also due to governmental persecution. The lineup includes numerous fresh acts that are currently being praised by the music media – Fontaines D.C., black midi, SOPHIE – and of course a strong overview of the Russian scene, including acts that have performed at MENT in recent years: Glintshake, Lucidvox, Shortparis, rosemary loves a blackberry, Kate NV and Super Besse from Belarus.

The Canyon Observer, who released their second album “Nøllvia Kapa Records and Vox Project last year, have completed numerous tours, including several concerts in Cuba. Writing about their album for Mladina, Borka stated: “Their second album swiftly drags us down into the canyons of hell, a land of nightmares and terror, a kingdom of howls from the beyond and a merciless rhythmic assault. But not without something we would have difficulty describing as feeling, but rather as perfected dynamics.”  Radio Študent ranked the album in seventh place on its Slovenian best-of-2018 list, while the international portal Beehype ranked it fifth.

The Canyon Observer will perform at Bol Festival on 6 July.

The concert is supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Moscow, Music Slovenia and the MENT platform.
